IHS Alumni International Urban Professional and Youth Awards

Updated: Oct 26, 2018

Since 2010, the IHS Alumni International network, together with IHS, has been recognizing outstanding city changers from all over the world for their achievements, which brought positive changes in their cities. From Latin America to Africa, we have honoured outstanding individuals, whom, faced with great odds and challenges, have overcome these to improve the lives of urban dwellers in their respective cities. In 2016, IHS introduced the IHS Alumni International Award Youth Urban Professional Award, for individuals between the ages of 18 and 35, or youth organizations which have made a significant contribution to urban development and management.

This year, we have received nominations from all over the world, with very remarkable candidates for the awards, but after a long journey and debate, our jury deliberated and we are pleased to announce the winners of the IHS Alumni International Urban Professional and Youth Awards 2018! We thank the members of our jury - Carley Pennink, Emiel Wegelin and Claudio Acioly - for the very prompt response and sustained efforts in choosing the awardees.

The Winner of the Urban Professional Award is Enkhbayar Tsedendorj, from Mongolia, while the runner ups are Jeniffer Semakula Musisi from Uganda and Yahia Shawkat from Egypt!

The Winner of the Youth Urban Professional Award is an organisation, called Urban Curators, from Ukraine, while the runner up is Henry Takunda Gurajena, from Zimbabwe!

We congratulate both the winners and runner-ups for their impressive achievements and you will find out more about each of them and their work in improving cities in the upcoming days.

The Awards Ceremony will take place on the 6th of November, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, during the IHS 60-years anniversary conference, 'Empowering Cities and Citizens'. The event will take place in Maassilo, Rotterdam. If you wish to attend, you can get your discounted ticket from here: www.ihs.nl/ecc using the code MAKINGCITIESWORK.
